Oil tanker fire injures one near Hulhumale' coast

A fire broke out on an oil tanker off the coast of Hulhumale' on Tuesday, injuring one person, police said.

The incident occurred around 13:00hrs. A video circulating on social media shows thick black smoke rising from a vehicle in the first phase of Hulhumale'.

Firefighters from the MNDF Fire and Rescue’s Hulhumale' Station responded to the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze.

Police said a Bangladeshi man on board the tanker sustained burns to his arms and is currently receiving treatment at Hulhumale' Hospital.

Authorities have confirmed that the fire has been put out and that the case is under investigation.
