Minor arrested after disturbance at Hiyaa tower

A minor has been arrested following a disturbance involving multiple youths at a Hiyaa tower in Phase II, Hulhumale', police confirmed on Monday evening.

The incident occurred at Tower 9 of the Hiyaa housing complex, where three minors reportedly threatened each other and caused a public disturbance. Police said a 16-year-old boy was taken into custody in connection with the case.

A video circulating on social media shows a male being arrested at the scene. In the background, a man can be heard mentioning that someone was carrying a knife.

Police confirmed that a sharp object was recovered from the area and that an investigation is underway.

The incident comes amid growing concern over youth involvement in violent altercations and street-level clashes. According to police statistics, 479 cases of physical assault have been reported so far this year.
