HDC’s Minecraft-themed Independence Day floats returns to Central Park

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is set to set to put its Minecraft-themed floats back on display at the Hulhumale’ Central Park on Saturday – marking the return of a float won the hearts of children during the Independence Day parade.

HDC’s floats reimagine Hulhumale’ in a Minecraft-inspired design.

According to HDC, employees from the corporation spent two weeks building the floats, using plywood and weld metal to recreate landmarks in Hulhumale’.

The floats, designed based on the viral 3D sandbox adventure game Minecraft, were an instant hit among children who went to see the 60th Independence Day float parade on Sunday.

The parade had been scheduled to return for a second day on Monday, but it got cancelled due to bad weather.

But the HDC has announced that due to popular demand, the corporation will be displaying its floats at the Hulhumale’ Central Park again on Saturday – from 04:30 pm to 06:00 pm and from 08:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

The float parade is a popular part of Independence Day festivities, especially among children.
