Maldives national airline, Maldivian, has unveiled a special addition to its aircrafts livery celebrating Maldives’ 60th independence anniversary, which features the words ‘Dhivehi Raajje’ written in Dhivehi language.
According to the Maldivian, the new design element is a tribute to the country’s heritage, language, and enduring national pride.
The airline’s Airbus A330 became the first aircraft to highlight the feature, making a historic landing at the newly opened terminal of Velana International Airport (VIA) on Sunday, and marking the airline as the first to land at the new facility.
Maldivian states the symbolic feature will be incorporated across Maldivian’s existing fleet, recognizing the airline’s status as the national carrier and highlighting its strong ties to Maldivian heritage. As the Maldives celebrates 60 years of independence, this tribute honors the nation's sovereignty and the unity of its people.
Ali Saleem, Deputy Managing Director of Island Aviation Services Limited, the operator of Maldivian, said the airline, as Maldives’ national carrier, takes immense pride in carrying the name ‘Dhivehi Raajje’ across the skies.
“Introduced during a milestone year for both the nation and our airline, this meaningful tribute is more than just a design element, it is a powerful reflection of our identity and the values we uphold every time we take flight,” he added.
While the upgraded livery will be progressively rolled out across Maldivian’s operating aircraft, the first aircraft already bearing the design is now in service.
