Pres. meets Saudi’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah; commends exemplary arrangements

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has commended the exemplary travel procedures, hospitality and accommodation made for pilgrims undertaking this year’s Hajj during a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfig F. Al-Rabiah.

The meeting between the President and the Minister was held at the Hajj and Umrah office in Minaa on Sunday.

During the meeting, President Muizzu extended his profound gratitude to the Saudi King, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for their sincere consideration towards Maldivian pilgrims and for the outstanding services provided.

The President, noting Maldives’ inclusion in the Makkah Route Initiative this year, said the arrangement, applauded the greatly facilitated travel procedures for pilgrims. He also commended the exceptional hospitality and accommodation arrangements made for this year’s Hajj.

President Muizzu and First lady Sajidha Mohamed are currently in Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. They are accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Maldivian government. The delegation is being hosted by Saudi Arabian government, which the President’s Office said reflects the close brotherly ties and longstanding friendship between the two countries.

A total of 1,000 Maldivians traveled to Saudi Arabia for Hajj pilgrimage this year. They will begin returning to the Maldives starting Friday.
