President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that Islam is the cornerstone of Maldivian nationhood, in a message issued to commemorate 900 years since the Maldives embraced Islam.
In his message, the President said the nation’s development and achievements are rooted in Islam, describing the religion as the main pillar of Maldivian identity. He said Islam has safeguarded the country’s peace and security in the past and will continue to do so in the future.
Marking nine centuries since the Maldives embraced Islam, the President offered praise and thanks to Allah and extended his good wishes to the Maldivian people.
He also prayed for the continued development, peace and security of the nation.
