A Maldivian man has been arrested for submitting fake payment slips while ordering food from restaurants and cafes via a food delivery app on repeated occasions.
Zaidhan Mohamed Hashim, 28, G. Sinamale’ 13-05, Male’, was arrested on Thursday.
Police suspect Zaidhan of sending forged payment slips as proof of payment for food ordered via ‘Foodies’ delivery application on repeated occasions.
According to Police, Zaidhan has a prior record of fraud and scams.
In this regard, media outlets have previously reported Zaidhan's involvement in various fraud and scam cases, including taking payments under false pretenses of fulfilling a task and fraudulently obtaining goods from shops.
Moreover, Police had made a public announcement seeking to locate Zaidhan in February of this year to enforcement a Civil Court order. Zaidhan has been arrested in similar cases previously.
Zaidhan has been remanded in custody for 15 days upon presentation before the court on Friday.
It remains unclear how long Zaidhan had been committing fraud or the total amount of money involved, as there has been no response yet from the owner of the Foodies app.
