ACC probes three school employees for defrauding MVR 1.5M in salaries

A serious case has emerged involving three employees of a school in Malé, who allegedly defrauded MVR 1.5 million over a five-year period by collecting the salary of a former staff member.

Sun has learned that the three individuals had allegedly continued receiving salary payments under the name of an employee who had already resigned from the school. The fraudulent scheme is believed to have continued for five years, beginning in 2021.

Civil Service Commission (CSC)’s Mohamed Nasih confirmed that such an incident is under investigation. Additionally, he noted that the Commission has decided to terminate the three individuals involved in the case.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has confirmed that an official investigation into the matter is currently in progress.

Although it has been established that three school employees are connected to the alleged financial misconduct, further details regarding the case have not yet been disclosed.
