A special event for children to celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr was hosted on Sunday afternoon, March 30th.
The event, led by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) was held in the grounds of the Republic Square, Sultan Park, and the Islamic Center.
Children of all ages were invited to take part in various games, explore MNDF’s military vehicles, and take pictures with them.
MNDF was supported by Maldives Police Service and several state-owned enterprises in organizing the activities.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had visited to greet the public and partake in the activities at the Sultan Park and Republic Square as well. Upon his arrival, the president received a ceremonial welcome after which his family had explored the various stalls at the event.
He also took part in cutting the commemorative cake for the evening, which took place in front of Izzuddin Jetty – the official pier.
President Muizzu places great importance on facilitating Muslim celebrations as part of the government’s initiatives, said the President’s Office. The office further added that the president also believes that commemorating such Islamic occasions would foster love for Islam among children and enhance their understanding of the religion.
