The government have announced seeking technical consultants to extend support for the Addu City bridge project.

The bridge project at the southern-most city aims to connect Hithadhoo with Hulhumeedhoo.

In an announcement from the Ministry of Finance, it had announced seeking consultants to provide support in technical survey, design, tender documents, and technical specification documents. The ministry made the announcement on behalf of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure.

All interested parties are encouraged to provide their credentials before the deadline. Proponents are required to submit documents showcasing their technical capabilities, details of experience or work portfolio, and personnel skills and credentials.

Shortlisted parties will be extended the opportunity to submit formal proposals, the Ministry of Finance added.

Terms of Reference (ToR) related to the project will be available from the ministry’s website from Monday onward. Acquiring the latest information related to the project is the responsibility of the bidder, the ministry added.

All interested parties are required to submit Expression of Interest (EoI) before 13:00hrs on March 24 via mail at [email protected] or [email protected], the ministry further instructed.

Egypt-based ‘The Arab Contractors’ was awarded the technical survey and design works of the bridge on February 19th with the contractor agreeing to provide the support free of charge.

The Addu City bridge project is a key pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, with the initiative tabled for the final week of the first 100-day roadmap of Muizzu’s administration.

The survey works of the bridge had an MVR 30 million budgetary allocation in 2024 while all the pre-design survey works concluded by April 10, 2024.

Connecting Hithadhoo with Hulhumeedhoo via a bridge was an important pledge of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom who shared the vision during the presidential campaign in 2018.
