Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has announced a dynamic partnership with Maldives TV for the coverage of four exciting events throughout this year.

The four events will highlight Maldives' breathtaking natural beauty, thrilling adventure tourism, crucial marine conservation efforts, and cutting-edge technological innovations, further solidifying Maldives’ position as a premier global destination.

Buruna Boma

The event is a thrilling three-day international fishing competition, the Burunu Boma will unite anglers across the world in a global contest on the open seas from May 2nd to May 4th. Participating teams will compete for grand prizes, demonstrating teamwork, sportsmanship, and sustainable fishing practices and the top anglers will be recognized for their significant catches and overall performance.

MMPRC states Burunu Boma is aimed at reinforcing Maldives’ status as a world-class fishing destination and promises an unforgettable experience for all participants.

Dhoonier Wreck

This is a marine conservation project that will see the launch of the "Dhoonier" dive site at Kudagiri and will involve submerging two Dornier aircraft to create a stunning artificial reef ecosystem.

According to MMPRC, the collaboration with Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) will strengthen ties between the tourism sector, marine conservationists, and government representatives, further enhancing the Maldives' reputation as a top diving destination.

The name "Dhoonier" blends the Dhivehi word "Dhooni" with "Dornier," highlighting the Maldives' dedication to marine preservation and sustainable tourism.

Visit Maldives Book of Records

The event will showcase remarkable achievements, unique talents, and extraordinary feats of individuals, organizations, and communities across Maldives.

MMPRC said the event is aimed at uncovering the nation's most astonishing records and fascinating facts, inviting participation from local councils and creating a platform for visitors to view Maldivian excellence.

It will feature categories such as Natural Wonders, Cultural Achievements, Sports and Adventure, Human Feats, and Technological and Scientific Innovations.

Visit Maldives Hackathon

Taking inspiration from the “Tradian” platform which links business owners and service provision agencies, the Visit Maldives Hackathon is a forward-thinking initiative designed to address key challenges in the Maldives' tourism industry through innovation, AI, and sustainability.

Open to a wide range of professionals and enthusiasts, the hackathon invites teams of 3-5 members to develop innovative solutions that enhance visitor experiences, promote environmental conservation, and improve operational efficiency.

MMPRC states the hackathon will play a vital role in shaping the sustainable future of the Maldives' tourism ecosystem.

The corporation reaffirmed its commitment to delivering exceptional and innovative events year-round, ensuring the Maldives continues to captivate global travelers as the World's Leading Destination.
