Maldives Police Service has destroyed 446 impounded vehicles on Saturday.
The vehicles had been impounded by the law enforcement authority for various violations, and remain unclaimed. The vehicles were towed for violations ranging from illegal driving and other traffic violations.
Police confirmed destruction of these unclaimed vehicles in a post on X. The destroyed vehicles included 378 two-wheelers, 40 four-wheelers and 28 bicycles.
Owners of impounded vehicles receive a specified window to reclaim their vehicles by producing the relevant documents. Failure to reclaim towed vehicles within the provided timeframe grant authority to police to have them destroyed.
