Fuvahmulah drug smuggling: female suspect released

The local woman, arrested for her suspected involvement in smuggling narcotic substances to Fuvahmulah City via a boat, has been released.

Maldives Police Service, in a message to local media, said they conducted a special operation in the southern city following reports it received to its Intelligence Unit.

The authority had discovered contents suspected of being drugs from box that was brought to the city via a vessel.

Although police brought a 40-year-old local woman for suspected involvement in the case, earlier on Saturday morning, she had been released after confirming she had no involvement.
