Male’ City Council passes MVR 487M budget for 2025

Male’ City Council, on Thursday, passed a projected budget of MVR 487 million for 2025.

The Council passed the projected budget during the 178^th meeting of the fourth session.

According to the Council, the total budget proposed for this year is MVR 487,225,847.50.

Speaking regarding the budget after its presentation, Deputy Mayor Nareesh underscored that Male’ City Council was in possession of some of types of vehicles that are not generally driven in Male.

Noting that the Council was receiving requests from companies and private individuals to use the vehicles, he suggested that the Council could generate a good profit after acquiring more of such vehicles and renting them out.

Councilor Mohamed Saif Fathith who also spoke at the meeting stressed that the Council does not receive the funds that should be disbursed to the Council from the state budget in accordance with the law. 

He emphasized that while the proposed budget for last year had exceeded by a significant sum, the sum allocated for Male’ City Council this year is MVR 23 million lower than the sum allocated last year.
