China has donated a road sweeper to L. Fonadhoo under the Yunnan Hand in Hand Program (YNHHP).
The road sweeper was handed over to Fonadhoo Council during a ceremony held by the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works on Tuesday.
The Ministry, via a post on X, said the donation will play a vital role in ensuring a cleaner, healthier environment for Fonadhoo island community.

The Ministry also expressed gratitude to Yunnan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Yunnan Commercial Representative Office in Malé, and the Embassy of China in the Maldives for their continued support to the Maldives.
The link road connecting Laamu Atoll’s Gan, Kadhdhoo and Fonadhoo was redeveloped under a major project undertaken with assistance from the Chinese government. The road that had previously been worn down and damaged was redeveloped up to modern standards in a project valued at USD 30 million funded by the Chinese government. It measures at 15.1 kilometers.
