Maldives Immigration on Sunday evening inspected 26 places from Hulhumale’ Phase II and arrested four irregular expatriates.

Immigration said they conducted a special raid on businesses operated in Phase II.

In the ongoing crackdown by the Immigration and Maldives Police Service to identify and apprehend irregular expatriates, authorities inspected 13 places from Phase II last Saturday and arrested three expatriates as well.

Authorities had inspected eight shops and four cafés and restaurants and a saloon during their Saturday raid.

The incumbent government aims to solve illegal immigration within three years, according to the Minister of Homeland Security Ali Ihusan.

Immigration earlier said that it aimed to deport 5,000 illegal immigrants before the current year ended, which was achieved last month.
