President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu states political leaders who do not wish for the well for normal citizens without wealth will emerge soon.
He made the remark via a post on X.
In this regard, President Muizzu said the public shall soon see political leaders who do not wish well for normal citizens without wealth.
He underscored that the current administration was moving forward while siding with the people and in this trajectory, affirmed its commitment to ensure prosperity for everyone in a just manner.
The President’s remarks come amid backlash from main opposition MDP’s leaders regarding various decisions recently taken by the government.
However, speaking at the Republic’s Day function held on Sunday, President Muizzu reaffirmed the Government's dedication to good governance, emphasizing its commitment to transparency and accountability for the benefit of the people.
He stressed that his administration was on the people’s side and in this trajectory, working towards to achieve goals desired by the public.
“That is why we are trying to tackle huge issues that have remained unaddressed for ages. Many issues have been left untouched in the past for easement or for the sake of remaining in the comfort zone,” he said.
Some of the measures being implemented by the government include reforms to Aasandha, the national health insurance scheme, and reforms to the benefit scheme for senior citizens who have reached 65 years of age.
Other measures include the decision to ban vapes, tax hikes in the tourism sector and amendments to foreign exchange regulations.
