IUM’s Iqra Bookfair opens with diverse offering for booklovers

The Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) on Wednesday opened this year’s edition of its annual Iqra Hybrid Bookfair.

The bookfair was inaugurated in a ceremony held at IUM’s Hall by Dr. Ashraf Abdul Raheem, the president of the Dhivehi Bahuge Academy.

The bookfair, which will continue at IUM’s Hall until November 16, is being held by IUM in collaboration with 15 key partners. They are:

  • Novelty Bookshop
  • Dhivehi Bahuge Academy
  • Bunyan Books
  • Endeavor
  • Fanash
  • iCanRead
  • Inner Publications
  • Books and Blocks
  • Ilmaas Publications
  • Leesh Visam
  • Keen Star
  • Learners
  • Moose Bookshop
  • Vissaara Dhuni

According to IUM, the main purpose of holding the bookfair is to provide a platform where the public can access a diverse range of books at affordable prices, and to foster the love for book reading.

IUM said the bookfair will also feature a lot of side-events aimed at people of all age groups. This includes a knowledge corner, panel discussions and bookmark designing.

Booklovers do not need to physically visit the bookfair to purchase books. They can do it online through a dedicated web portal.

The bookfair offers a diverse collection of books at affordable prices, ranging from children’s books to religious books to history and literature books.

IUM plans to hold bookfairs in its learning centers in L. Fonadhoo and Fuvahmulah City in the upcoming weekend.

IUM launched its annual Iqra Bookfair in 2018.
