President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has conferred the National Award for Public Service to 53 recipients and the National Award for Special Achievement to another 40 recipients.
The awards were conferred during the official Republic Day function held at Dharubaaruge on Sunday evening.
The National Award for Public Service recognizes those who have served the State for more than 35 years, celebrating their competence and integrity in carrying out their duties, as well as their contributions to their respective institutions.
Among the 53 recipients honored on Sunday, 11 have dedicated over 40 years to State service, whilst the remaining 42 have served for more than 35 years.
Meanwhile, 40 individuals received the National Award for Special Achievement in recognition of their exceptional accomplishments in higher education and training. The awards, including medals and citations, recognized individuals for notable achievements in advancing through the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) of the Maldives.
This year, two individuals were honored for achieving the prestigious Level 10 in the NQF, while 38 others were recognized for reaching Levels 7, 8, or 9.
Among the recipients of the President’s Award for Special Achievement, Dr. Aishath Shina and Dr. Khadeeja Rasheed were particularly commended for their remarkable academic achievements at Level 10.
The National Awards Committee, mandated with vetting and selecting recipients for the National Awards, oversaw the selection of this year's recipients.
