Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has announced a nationwide competition to design landmarks for installation at iconic locations in the Maldives including Velana International Airport, Male’ City, underwater locations and islands outside of Male’ area.
As per the Corporation, the imitative is aimed at showcasing Maldives’ unique charm and local artistic talents in addition to further enhancing the tourist experience while in the nation.
MMPRC has encouraged widespread participation in the competition which is open to all Maldivian citizens that are above the age of 18.
Participants have been invited to express their creativity and their unique sense of national pride by submitting designs for landmarks that embody the essence of the Maldives, reflecting the rich heritage, culture, and stunning natural beauty of that specific region.
In this regard, the designs should be should be crafted in a sustainable manner, with a maximum height of 20 feet. Each landmark should represent the specific island or area it's designated for, incorporating historical context, local activities, and unique characteristics.
The top 10 designs will be chosen through a combination of evaluations by a panel of technical judges and a public vote. Judges will consider creativity, safety, longevity, and visual appeal as key factors when evaluating the designs.
Each winner is set to receive a cash prize of MVR 20,000 and a gift package courtesy of the competition's sponsors. Moreover, all top 10 designs will be showcased and utilized in MMPRC's marketing activities, with credit to the designers.
Entries for the competition is to be submitted via email to [email protected] before 6:00pm on November 30th. The entries must be submitted with clear dimensions specified in both CAD and PDF formats. A completed application form with a copy of a valid National ID is compulsory for successful entry. The participant may also submit a visual representation of the proposed location.
Each participant can submit a design for one landmark only.
