Police probe man giving control of motorbike to a child on highway

A video has gone viral on social media which shows a man giving control of his motorbike to a young child while driving on Sinamale’ Bridge’s highway.

The video shows a child, who is seated in front of the man in a school uniform, handed over the control of the motorbike by the handlebars. The man keeps his left hand lightly on the handlebar.

Police said the video has come to their attention following which they are probing the incident.

The authority has previously launched investigations and taken action after videos showing individuals driving recklessly or violating traffic regulations surfaced. In this regard, Police have taken action after a viral video that showed a motorbike driver without a helmet on the bridge and a viral video that showed a large number of plants being carried on a motorbike.

Police are taking significant action to reduce accidents with 1,933 accidents reported so far this year, accounting for over 200 per month.

With a large number of major accidents recently that have also claimed lives, Police have reported a decrease in the number of accidents after they increased officers patrolling the roads to reduce accidents.
