Migrants armed with batons who clashed on Male’ street released

The migrants who fought with each other using batons on a street in Male’ City on early Thursday have been released within hours of their arrest.

The fight, which took place on Asrafee Magu, was reported to the police at 12:33 am Thursday.

A video of the incident shows at least six men hitting each other with batons.

The police confirmed that the fight took place between migrants, but did not specify their nationality.

A police spokesperson said that two people sustained injuries in the fight. They were treated at the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and then discharged.

“Five individuals were taken into police custody in connection to the fight. They have all since been released,” added the spokesperson.

Police said they were investigating the case.
