NSPA’s debt burdens at MVR 871M at the end of the last administration

National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) states the agency’s debt burdens stood at MVR 871 million at the end of former president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration.

As per information provided by NSPA to Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, the agency’s MVR 871 million in debt burdens at the end of the former administration is an accumulation of unpaid dues to private companies and government organizations.

MVR 4 billion has been included in this year’s budget to provide aid via NSPA including allowance for single mothers and funding for various medical purposes.

At Tuesday’s Committee meeting, the total accumulation Aasandha and NSPA’s unpaid bills to ADK was disclosed. In this regard, Aasandha and NSPA owe MVR 144 million to the hospital alone.

Although NSPA disclosed the information requested by the Committee, Aasandha refused to do so, prompting anger among MPs. They have again been instructed to disclose the requested information.
