Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and the National Hotel and Guesthouse Association of Maldives (NHGAM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to boost Maldives’ appeal as a top tourist destination.
The agreement was signed by MMPRC’s CEO and Managing Director, Ibrahim Shiuree, and NHGAM’s Vice President, Ahmed Waheed at a ceremony held at the MMPRC headquarters on Sunday afternoon.
Shiuree said the MMPRC is excited to strengthen their collaboration with NHGAM to tap into emerging markets.
“By working closely with industry partners such as NHGAM, we aim to further enhance our offerings and attract more travelers to the Maldives,” he added.
MMPRC said that under the strategic new MOU, NHGAM will play a crucial role in supporting marketing efforts and participant recruitment, maximizing their engagement throughout fairs and events including Asian Tourism Fair (ATF) 2024.
Additionally, both parties will cooperate in jointly promoting the Maldives, boosting local island tourism, and strengthening the Maldives’ position as a leading global tourist destination.
MMPRC said that the ATF 2024, the first collaboration under this MOU, is a vital event among governments, businesses, and development agencies across Asia - providing invaluable opportunities for networking, partnership building, and cultural exchange.
This year's ATF coincides with World Tourism Day, adding even more excitement and prestige to the event.
Beyond the core tourism trade exhibition, B2B sessions, and B2C opportunities, ATF 2024 also boasts a range of exciting side events.
MMPRC is engaged in continuous efforts to elevate Maldives as the most preferred tourism destination in major markets.
MMPRC said that by forging strategic partnerships with key industry stakeholders like NHGAM, the corporation aims to tap into promising markets and explore new segments and increase arrival numbers.
The corporation believes that its collaboration with NHGAM will significantly boost tourist arrivals and contribute to the growth of the Maldives' tourism industry, reinforcing the country’s position as the World’s Leading Destination.
