39 people convert to Islam in the Maldives in eight months

Islamic Minister states 39 foreigners converted to Islam in the Maldives over the past eight months.

The statistics were disclosed during the Ministry’s Media Exhibition 2024 aimed at showcasing the Ministry’s undertakings to the public.

The 39 foreigners who converted to Islam in the past eight months include:

  • Eight from Philippines
  • Five from India
  • Four from Nepal
  • Three from Indonesia, Russia, Italy, Thailand and Sri Lanka each
  • Two from Vietnam and Germany each
  • One from Spain, Malaysia and Japan each

Islamic Ministry’s undertakings highlighted in the exhibition include weekly rehabilitation programs at prisons, with 98 such programs conducted so far this year and religious lectures at mosques in both Male’ area and atolls.

Lectures specific for Bangladeshi nationals have been held in Male’ area.

The exhibition will be held till 6:00pm on Monday.
