Bangladesh donates sports equipment to the Maldives

Bangladesh has donated sports equipment to the Maldives.

The equipment was handed over during a ceremony held at the Sports Ministry on Thursday. Bangladeshi High Commissioner to the Maldives Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad handed over the equipment – which was received by State Minister for Sports Mohamed Riyaz.

The donated equipment included:

  • 100 footballs
  • 100 futsal balls
  • 90 volleyballs
  • 100 bibs

Speaking at the handover ceremony, State Minister Riyaz thanked the High Commissioner and the Government of Bangladesh and noted that the equipment will assist in enhancing the sports activities in Maldives.

In this regard, he said the equipment will be distributed among schools and other institutions.

High Commissioner Azad who also spoke at the ceremony underscored that the century-old relationship between Bangladesh and Maldives is improving day by day with collaborations in a plethora of areas. He also affirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to uphold ties with the Maldives in all areas.

Thursday’s handover ceremony was attended by senior officials from the High Commission and the Ministry.
