PM: Bangladesh ready to work with Maldives to advance shared interests

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has reaffirmed his country’s readiness to work closely with the Maldives to advance shared interests and strengthen their enduring bilateral ties.

The Prime Minister made the remark during a bilateral meeting with Maldivian Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81) in New York.

During high-level bilateral discussions, the Vice President extended his congratulations to Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman on his assumption of the Presidency of the United Nations General Assembly for its 81st session. He also conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the government and people of the Maldives to their counterparts in Bangladesh.

Reflecting on the enduring diplomatic ties between the two South Asian nations, the Vice President emphasized the necessity of expanding cooperation across areas of mutual interest. He expressed confidence in fostering sustained collaboration and strengthening people-to-people connections between the Maldives and Bangladesh.

In response, Prime Minister Rahman conveyed his appreciation for the congratulations and well-wishes, emphasizing the critical role of continued cooperation at the United Nations and within other multilateral frameworks. The Prime Minister reaffirmed Bangladesh's commitment to working closely with the Maldives to advance shared objectives and deepen their bilateral partnership.
