Hammadh sentenced to 14 years for the rape of 13-year-old girl

Ismail Hammadh, Fehiali, R. Maduvvari, who was sentenced to 14 years in prison for the rape of a 13-year-old under the pretense of marriage.

Criminal Court has found Ismail Hammadh, Fehiali, R. Maduvvari, guilty of raping a young girl under the pretense of marriage and has subsequently sentenced him to 14 years in prison.

Hammadh was charged with touching a minor with sexual intent.

Criminal Court, on Thursday, found the Hammadh guilty of the charge and sentenced him to 14 years in prison; the most severe punishment for the crime.

However, after deducting the time he has already spent in custody, Hammadh will have to serve nine years, four months and 15 days as per the Court.

The parents of the 13-year-old girl were also arrested in connection to the case on December 10, 2019, not only for neglecting their parental duties to the 13-year-old but also their other children.

While the mother was pressed with four charges, the father was pressed with one charge.

The charges against the mother included:

  • Leaving a child below the age of one unattended and without supervision of a person above the age of 14 for 24 hours or more in a manner that could endanger their health, well-being and safety as the mother or father of the child
  • Failure to take comprehensive action to stop any act against a child that should not be taking place as the mother or father of the child
  • Providing false information to authorities
  • Obstructing the enforcement of law and the works of government authorities

The father was charged with obstructing the enforcement of law and the works of government authorities.
