Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) leader and Meedhoo constituency MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has urged the public to uphold Islamic values as the new Hijri year commences.

In his new year's address, Siyam relayed well wishes and glad tidings to Maldives citizens on the occasion of new Hijri year, 1446.

"Prioritize performing acts of worship, especially salat, Quran recitation, Zakat and charity, I urge Maldives public to uphold these practices," Siyam in his addressing said.

He also said to take lessons from the Islamic history, especially related to the origin of the Hijri calendar.

Siyam in his address, highlighted the cautious journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) migrating from Mecca to Madinah owing to impending threats from non-believers.

The MDA leader said that beloved Prophet's decision to migrate, exemplifies the importance of trusting Allah in every decision we make in our lives.

He further said that while the Muslim population continues to grow in number, the entire brotherhood faces unprecedented challenges.

Siyam emphasized on the continued efforts by enemies of Islam, spreading lies and fallacies related to the religion and its believers with the precise attempt to derail the growing number of Muslims worldwide.

The MDA leader also said that there were those who were propagating against Muslim scholars, with attempts to discredit them by labeling them as extremists.

He called everyone to unite to curtail such anti-Islamic rhetorics and attempts.

Siyam further stressed on the continued suffering of the Palestinian people, and urged everyone to remain steadfast in offering prayers and duas for the preservation of the Palestinian people.
