PO Spokesperson quashes rumors of Pres' family

President's Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed on Monday, has rejected rumors about President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's family seeking police assistance on an alleged black magic incident against him.

In a post on X, Heena said President Muizzu and his family has not filed any cases with Maldives Police Service regarding the alleged black magic spell cast on him.

Police media official, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan also denied social media rumors, confirming the president's family had not filed the case with the authority to investigate.

State Minister of Environment Shamnaz Saleem, her sister Sana Saleem, the Political Director of the same ministry, and another 58-year-old male suspect were arrested for their alleged involvement in casting black magic on the Maldives head of state.

Criminal Court on Monday extended remand period of Shamnaz and Sana by another seven days, after their initial seven-day remand expired.

The male suspect has been given a conditional bail from Hulhumale' Magistrate Court.

Shamnaz is the ex-wife President's Office Minister Adam Rameez, who has reportedly flown out of the country recently. The two have been placed under suspension following the allegations on Shamnaz.
