Adam Rameez, who is serving as a minister at the President’s Office and the ex-husband of Shamnaz Saleem, state minister at the Environment Ministry who has been arrested and suspended, has also been suspended alongside her.

Rameez, during his time at Male’ City Council, was noticed as a close aide of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who had been the mayor at that time.

However, he has been absent from the public light in the past five months or so.

On Sunday, it was announced that his ex-wife, Shamnaz had been arrested alongside two other individuals. All three of them have been remanded in custody for seven days.

Shamnaz has also been suspended from her post following her arrest.

Shamnaz, who had been previously listed on Environment Ministry’s website as a political appointee, is no longer named on the list. Rather, her name has been moved to the list of former political appointees.

There have been reports that Shamnaz was arrested for performing black magic on President Muizzu.

However, this has not been confirmed by any official sources.

When asked about the reports, the chief police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan, told Sun on Wednesday morning that police were investigating a case involving Shamnaz and two other individuals.

He declined to say more.
