Dr. Anaan Shafeeu who was working at the National Oncological Centre based in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has passed away.
Anaan died at the age of 28 years old in Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
The cause of her death remains unknown at the moment.
In a post following her passing, her fellow colleague and the first surgical oncologist in the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Shifan described Anaan as a brilliant doctor who was a “beacon of hope and compassion for every patient and colleague she encountered”.
He added that “her unwavering commitment to providing the best care, coupled with her gentle demeanor and genuine kindness” had made a profound impact on all, and henceforth, has left a void that cannot be filled.
Anaan’s funeral was held at Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo after Maghrib prayer on Tuesday.
