6ft snake found in Male’

A large snake has been found in an alleyway in the Mafannu district of Male’ City

The sighting of the snake was reported to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue Service at 08:46 pm on Sunday.

It was found in an alley in the Izzuddin Magu, located to the west of Maafannu Cemetery.

MNDF said the snake was six feet long.

It added that officers immediately attended to the site, and too safety measures.

However, it did not provide details on the type of snake that was found, nor did it comment on how it was believed to have entered Male’.

The import of snakes is banned in the Maldives.

However, there have been rare reports of snakes being spotted in the capital, most frequently in wood workshops or containers.
