Independence Day parade to be held in Hulhumale’ tomorrow

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) is scheduled to hold a military parade in Hulhumale’ on Wednesday in celebration of the Maldives’ 61st Independence Day.

The parade is set to kick off at 04:30 pm from the Hulhumale’ Synthetic Track in Hithigasmagu.

The parade will make two stops, at the junction of Hithigas Magu and Huvandhumaa Hingun near the Central Park, and at the junction of Reethigas Magu and Asurumaa Hingun near the SIFCO flats.

Independence Day is celebrated annually on July 26th, commemorating the day the Maldives gained full independence from the British in 1965. This year’s festivities included a flag-raising ceremony, an official function, and performances from MNDF and school children.
