Table Tennis Association of Maldives (TTAM)’s Vice President Ibrahim Shiuree has been appointed the Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

His appointment was announced by the Privatization and Corporatization Board via a post on X.

Shiuree has won the National Youth’s Award in the field of sports and capacity building.

Shiuree’s wife is Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO)’s CEO Aminath Soozan, who was appointed to the post in January.

The post of MMPRC’s Managing Director became vacant following the termination of Fathimath Thuafeeq, who previously held the post, on May 22nd.

Her termination came a day after the resignation of Noorain Janah, who had been serving as the corporation’s Chairperson.

Since then, Deputy Managing Director Bassam Adam has been overseeing the operations of the company as interim-in-charge.

The resignation of Nurain and the termination of Fathimath came after local media outlets reported of tensions between the Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal and MMPRC executives due to various management issues of the tourism board.

Minister Faisal however, denied these rumors later.

May also saw the termination of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO)'s CEO Ahmed Samah Rasheed and Housing Development Corporation (HDC)'s Chairman Ahmed Zuhoor.

In response to several high-profile dismissals, the government said the changes reflect its efforts to enhance the state's operations.
