People living in two homes in the Feydhoo district of Addu City have been moved to temporary shelters, after torrential rain and thunderstorms resulted in widespread flooding overnight, resulting in damages to dozens of homes.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Saturday morning that over 40 homes in Feydhoo reported damages due to flooding.

According to the NDMA, five homes were extensively damaged, making it uninhabitable.

The residents of two of the homes were moved to temporary shelters by the NDMA, while the inhabitants of the other homes moved in with relatives.

The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) and the district office assisted in controlling the flooding, and evacuating the people.
