Fenaka Corporation on Monday said they can reinstate electricity to Kulhudhuffushi City by dusk.
The utility provider said on X their power output was interrupted after three control modules fried owing to a transformer malfunction.
Fenaka also said power was cut around 9:15hrs on Monday morning while the utility provider was attempting to resume electricity as soon as possible. It added that power will resume expectedly around 18:00hrs on Monday evening, and apologized to Kulhudhuffushi public for the inconvenience.
The city faced power interruptions constantly throughout this year’s Ramadan, due to which the utility provider earlier announced a 50% discount on the current month’s electricity bills for all Kulhudhuffushi residences.
Earlier, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had said that the electricity services in multiple islands were in poor condition when the current administration came to power. He added that several powerhouses in different islands were in rundown condition, and said his government was actively working on replacing old power generators in the relevant islands.
