President requests grander Eid celebration

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called the Maldives public to carry out Eid festivities with grander celebrations and more activities.

The president made the request at the ceremony held on Monday evening to launch the festive lights for this year's Eid-ul-Fitr, and to re-establish the water fountain in Republic Square.

"I ask the public to come out to the streets with families and loved ones to walk, play and carry out as many activities as possible and to celebrate to be proud of being Muslims while celebrating Eid festivities at a larger scale," President Muizzu said.

Dr. Muizzu also said Maldivians should be proud of their Muslim identity and always be ready to strengthen the faith. He added it was his wish for Maldivian citizens to comprehend the blessing of being born a Muslim as well.

"In our country, we should anticipate the arrival of Eid with excitement, celebrate it jubilantly within the parameters of the Islamic faith," he added.

He further expressed delight that this year's grand-scale Eid celebrations nationwide, and affirmed the successive Eid festivals will be celebrated in the same scale.

President Muizzu also requested the public to unite and foster love and kindness among each other during this year's Eid.

"Regardless of the circumstances we face and despite of the dissent among us, we must never forget that we are Maldivians, and we should be proud of that," the president added.

Colorful celebration of Eid festivities is a key promise of President Muizzu.
