Gang attacks individual for attempted property damage

A group of locals attacked an individual on Saturday evening, alleging the individual had attempted to inflict damage on a takeaway outlet in Male' City.

Maldives Police Service confirmed to local media of receiving the report around 19:00hrs on Saturday evening.

Police said that a group that attacked the individual had absconded from the scene by the time they reached the location.

Police have arrested two suspects for the crime which included the assaulted individual and one of the suspects who reportedly assaulted him.

Video footage of the assault is already circulating across social media. The video showed a group of individuals attacking an individual by pinning him down to the ground.

Police said their officials were currently active at the scene.
