Heat levels rise in Maldives

Maldives Meteorological Center (MET Office) on Monday, reported the heat levels across the country have risen.

The authority said March and April are the hottest period each year. MET said that Maldives observes less cloud, windspeed, and a balanced humidity due to which the temperatures tend to rise.

MET added this temperature rise is felt nationwide, adding the temperature for Hulhule' and Male' City on Monday stood at 42 and 33 degrees, respectively.

Temperatures rose between 35 to 37 degrees in southern parts while significant temperature rises have been recorded from Laamu atoll and northern parts.

The office further reports, 2024 coincides with another El Nino event, adding heat levels are expected to rise beyond regular temperatures.

MET forecasts excessive heat conditions for the next five days throughout Maldives as well.
