Warehouse in Addu City completely destroyed in fire

A fire broke out at a warehouse in Addu City’s Hithadhoo district on Wednesday, completely destroying the warehouse beyond use.

In a statement, Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said the warehouse had previously been utilized as a shoe factory.

The fire was reported to the authority at approximately 2:49pm late afternoon. Firemen brought the fire under control at approximately 3:35pm.

MNDF said the walls of surrounding houses were somewhat damaged by the intensity of the fire.

They did not disclose whether anyone was injured in the incident.
