Police officer found dead at sea in Addu City

A police officer who was reported missing from Addu City in the early hours of Tuesday morning has been found dead at sea.

The officer has been identified as a 22-year-old male.

Police said the officer, who works at Addu City’s National College for Policing and Law, was reported missing at approximately 12:40am early Tuesday morning after he failed to return home after Isha prayer.

However, Police noted that he was off-duty at the time he was reported missing.

Police said was found at sea, near Hithadhoo Swimming Track area, at approximately 1:40am during a search operation.

Citing doctors at Addu Equatorial Hospital, Police detailed that he had already been dead when brought to the hospital.

The case is under investigation by the Police.
