Deputy Commissioner of Police Abdul Mannan Yoosuf has been appointed as the Acting Commissioner of Police, following the retirement of CP Mohamed Hameed.

Hameed, who was appointed as the CP during the current administration, received an honorable discharge from the police service on Wednesday.

A police spokesperson told Sun that Home Minister Imran Abdulla appointed Mannan as the Acting Commissioner of Police on Wednesday.

The successfully contested an unlawful termination lawsuit with the court, and was later reinstated to the police force and appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Police in 2018, after Yameen lost the election.

President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is expected to appoint a new Commissioner of Police once he takes office on Friday.
