State Trading Organization (STO) has been contracted to develop a Central Sterile Services Depart (CSSD) in Hulhumale’ Hospital.

The agreement pertaining to the project was signed on Monday by STO’s CEO Abdulla Saeed and Hulhumale’ Hospital’s CEO Mariya Saeed.

The project will entail the development of a unique CSSC specific for Hulhumale’ Hospital in partnership with prominent Spanish brand, ‘Matachana’.

STO will undertake the interior designing, in addition to supplying and installation of all equipment necessary. They will also provide training for the staff. The project was contracted to be completed within 262 days.

The state-owned enterprise has previously supplied and installed Matachana brand equipment to local hospitals. The main government hospital, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH)’s CSSD was built using Matachana brand equipment.

Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) is a crucial part of each hospital, which plays a vital role in patient safety and in reducing hospital surgical infection. The department is where sterilization and other actions on medical devices and equipment are performed.
