A blood donation camp was held at Sun Siyam Iruveli on Friday as part of a blood donation drive launched by Sun Siyam Resorts to celebrate its 33rd anniversary.
Briefing Sun regarding the camp, Sun Siyam Head Office’s Agriculture Department’s Manager Azza Hameed detailed this was the fifth such camp. She noted that over 80 staff from Sun Siyam Iruveli resort donated blood throughout the camp.
Azza said the biggest purpose of the camp was to provide assistance to Thalessemia patients.
The one-day camp was carried out with the assistance of a visiting team from Maldives Blood Services, including a doctor.
Azza noted cooperation from the resort’s management and all staff in ensuring a successful camp.
Similar camps were previously held in Sun Siyam Head Office in Male’ City, Sun Siyam Olhuveli, Siyam World and Sun Siyam Irufushi.
Azza said over 400 staff have donated blood to date through these camps.
Sun Siyam Group’s assistant general manager Hassan Adil told Sun that they launched its first blood drive back in 2015. Adil said the camp has expanded since then while there was a halt during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Adil, underscoring Sun Siyam Group to be amongst the best in the Maldives, said they strive for the best in all their endeavors.
Maldives has 940 registered thalassemia patients. 320 of them get their transfusions from Male’.
