Sun Siyam Resorts’ 36th Anniversary Blood Donation Event was held on Thursday at Sun Siyam Iru Veli, continuing the company’s long‑standing tradition of marking its anniversary with nationwide humanitarian activities.
The event was inaugurated by resort management officials. Every year, May 8 marks both Sun Siyam Resorts’ Annual Day and World Thalassaemia Day, and the company has consistently organised blood donation camps across its properties in honour of the day.
Resort Manager Mohamed Najah said he was pleased to see the event grow stronger each year. He said the unity and compassion shown by staff this year reflected the team’s deepening awareness and commitment.
He added that the attention given by the company’s head office demonstrates how deeply this cause is rooted in the company’s foundations.
“One of the things we are most proud of is that, year after year, the event continues to grow stronger and wider. Having Sun Siyam Iru Veli participate in this year’s event is a huge success. It is a testament to the awareness, compassion, and solidarity among our team,” said Najah.
Resort Director of Human Resources Shimhad Ali said the camp has been held annually since 2015, in conjunction with the Anniversary and Thalassaemia Day. He said 82 employees registered to donate blood this year.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our head office team for organising such camps at all Sun Siyam resorts every year. I would also like to thank the Maldives Blood Services (MBS) team for their full cooperation,” he said.
Maldives Blood Services Medical Officer Dr. Yasra Ismail thanked the management and Chairman Ahmed Siyam Mohamed for organising the event.
She noted that there are more than 650 thalassaemia children in the Maldives, and each child requires at least four donors every month.
Sun Siyam Resorts founder Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has long championed humanitarian initiatives alongside the company’s business success. Siyam is widely regarded as an exemplary figure in supporting the elderly, the vulnerable, and children in need across various fields.
Sun Siyam Resorts currently operates five high‑end resorts in the Maldives.
Sun Siyam Iru Veli General Manager Masdhooq Saeed said the resort is defined by its hospitality and closeness. Luxury, he said, is not just about appearances but about feeling.
