Local man arrested for assaulting girlfriend

A local man has been arrested on suspicions of physically abusing his girlfriend.

The 22-year-old man was presented before the Criminal Court on Thursday for a remand hearing.

Police have accused the man of assault.

Judge Ali Nadheem, who presided over the hearing, remanded the man in police custody for 15 days citing the submission of sufficient evidence against him to prove the charges.

“As he physically abused and threatened a woman he is romantically linked with, the court believes his release could endanger the society as the probability of the repetition of such an incident stands,” the court order read.
