Cargo transportation hours announced for Ramadan, fine for violations

Transport Ministry has announced the permitted hours for cargo transportation during the upcoming month of Ramadan – stressing those found in violation would be fined.

In this regard, the permitted hours of cargo transportation are as follows;

  •         Daytime – from 9:00am to 4:30pm
  •         Nighttime – from 8:00pm to 6:00am

Transportation of all types of goods will be allowed during these hours as per the Ministry.

Moreover, all vehicles will be banned from transporting goods of any kind on a commercial basis between 4:30pm and 8:00pm. Those found in violation of the directive will be fined by MVR 750.

Transport Ministry has also announced hours cargo vehicles will be permitted access to the Sinamale’ Bridge.

In this regard, all types of cargo vehicles can cross the bridge from 9:00am to 4:00pm and 1:00am to 6:00am. It is prohibited to carry goods across the bridge during hours other than specified. However, water and cooking gas may only be transported across the bridge from 9:00am to 4:00pm and 8:00pm to 6:00am. It is prohibited to carry water and cooking gas during hours other than specified.

Specific cargo transportation hours are declared every Ramadan. Transport Ministry states specific hours are declared to ease traffic jams in Male’ area in easing the usage of roads for the public.
