Maldives Immigration states that self-proclaimed spiritual healer Dr. Mala Ali, who claims to cure the hearing and vision impaired, has been barred from entry to the Maldives.

Iraqi national Mala arrived in the Maldives on a tourist visa on January 29th and treated several patients with various ailments claiming he could instantly cure them through the verses of Quran.

Immigration’s Spokesperson Mifthah Mohamed told Sun that Mala was blacklisted on Thursday after an inquiry at the request of the Health Ministry found that Mala had violated the terms of his tourist visa during his stay in the Maldives.

“Our inquiry found Mala, after his arrival in the Maldives on tourist visa, violated the terms of the visa during the course of his stay. Subsequently, he has been blacklisted under the Immigration Act,” he said.

The case of Mala Ali came to light after posts on his Facebook page showing him treating several Maldivians became viral. However, those who were treated by him, did not make recovery.

He had already left the country by then.

Mala Ali had previously been deported from Saudi Arabia and Turkey for fraud.
