Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has opened the opportunity for submission of complaints related to its upcoming presidential primary.

MDP announced Wednesday that it has established a complaints committee to review complaints related to its primary.

The opportunity is now open to submit complaints, said the party.

The three-member complaints committee is composed of; Ahmed Abdulla Afeef, Afshan Latheef, and Mohamed Hashim.

Complaint forms are available on the party’s website.

The deadline for submission of complaints is set to expire at 04:00 pm on December 31.

MDP is set to hold its presidential primary on January 28. It will see President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih compete against MDP’s leader, Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed for the party’s presidential ticket.

The upcoming primary has deepened the divide within MDP, with Nasheed’s loyalist accusing the government of attempting to influence the primary and undermine its fairness.

The allegations are denied by MDP members loyal to President Solih.
